The building energy consumption ranksfirst in the national total energy consumption, it Has risen from10%in the late1970s to30%in recent years. Building energy efficiency has become the primary task of socialsustainable development.As an innovative tool and production method, Building Information Modeling thatHereinafter referred to as BIM, makes the digital information technology directly usedin the whole life cycle of construction projects by establish a digitized BIM parametersmodel. BIM has attracted widely attentions and applied in the western developedcountries. This study aims to use the BIM technology Simulates and analyses energyconsumption of residential buildings in Chongqing through establish energyconsumption simulation model of the information at the design stage using EcotectAnalysis software. And comparing with traditional process of energy consumptionanalysis in China. The main comparison is: the differences between softwares, parties,energy consumption analysis processes and Data results. Then summarize how BIMtechnology applied to construction project analysis of energy saving, and what are thebreakthroughs compared with the traditional energy consumption analysis. Let thebuilding designers recognize the Ecotect software’s feasibility and applicability inbuilding energy efficiency and promote the BIM technology,make it gets moreextensive application in the engineering project.
