| In recent years, some of the natural and man-made disasters had caused huge lossto cities, the urban disaster prevention and security has become th e subject of publicconcern. In the presence of a number of disasters, it was noted that thanks to theirunique method in location, layout and construction, many historic cities and villageshad been free from the affection of the disasters. In fact, the working people of ancientChina accumulated a lot of experience in the construction of settlements, and hadformed a unique concept of security and disaster preventing system. The systemcontains not only the technology and process of construction, but also some aspects ofsocial systems and social behavior, and some even hidden in the seeminglysuperstitious feng-shui doctrine. While the scientific community has had somespecific studies in disaster preparedness, but not integrated into a system.The present study is a basic research project that based on the National NaturalScience Foundation project ‘research of the historical built-up areas’ security systembased on the dynamic simulation’(No.51178297). After collecting and sorting of therelated cultural and historical Data, some existing cities and villages had also beenresearched by field trip. Then it was studied under the method of system analyses andformed into a security system. Some of the methods were mentioned to give advicesto the contemporary urban construction.Firstly, some basic concept was defined, the project had then been divided intothree levels referred to macro-level, meso-level and micro-level. The macro-levelincluded the site-selecting method of settlements, meso-level included the methodsfor protecting settlements from fire and waterlog, and the micro-level methods for thesecurity of buildings. In the end of this article some advices are mentioned forcontemporary urban construction. |
