As one of the important structure form, the safety of open type wharf on piles isconcerned by researcher and engineer at home and abroad. During upsizing andspecialization of wharf, the safety of open type wharf on piles is threatened by someproblem, including lower bearing capacity of wharf, bad management of operationand mooring of extra ships. Based on reliability theory, combining with relatedcontent of ultimate bearing capacity, quantitative analysis method of unitary safety ofopen type wharf on piles is referred for structure safety. And based on unitaryreliability index of open type wharf on piles, classification method of unitary safety ofopen type wharf on piles is also referred. The main contents are as follow:(1) Consult and summarize the theories and methods at home and abroad.Quantitative analysis method of unitary safety of open type wharf on piles is referred.The basic idea of this method is the ultimate bearing capacity of the structure as arandom variable, in order to establish the function which reflects the security of opentype wharf on piles and calculate reliability index or failure probability to reflect thesafety of the structure.(2) Research on the probability distribution of the ultimate bearing capacity ofopen type wharf on piles has not been currently carried out.Using Monte Carlosimulation and nonlinear finite element, influence factors of the ultimate bearingcapacity as random variables, the method is referred to simulate ultimate bearingcapacity of the sample, and use statistical techniques to determine the probabilitydistribution of the ultimate bearing capacity.(3) As the described method above, the probability distribution and statisticalparameters of the ultimate bearing capacity of non-destructive open type wharf onpiles are obtained under the horizontal loads. By comparing the results under differentsample size, the sample size which is used in this paper is accurate and feasible.(4) Taking into account the prevalence of actual structure damage, by settingdifferent damage cases, the probability distribution of ultimate bearing capacity of thedamage structure are studied under the horizontal loads. Compared the probabilitydistribution and statistical parameters of the ultimate bearing capacity ofnon-destructive structure with the damaged structure, the accuracy of reliability index is analyzed and a conclusion is obtained.When reliability index of the damagestructure is calculated under horizontal load, probability distribution and statisticalparameters of ultimate bearing capacity of non-destructive structure can be used.(5) Access and conclude on the reliability assessment of a series of standards,norms and the results of the work of the researchers at home and abroad. Theclassification method of unitary safety of open type wharf on piles is established.According to the method, the results are discussed in accordance with a singlevariable load and multi-variable loads combination. Summarize and obtain the basiclaw of the grading standards.(6) According to the engineering data and test data of the open type wharf on piles,and using the described method, the safety of the structure is assessed after the shipdamaged the structure.The result of the assessment is in accordance with the practiceof engineering.
