With the increase of vehicle ownership, the researches of auto industry were focused oneconomizing energy and lower emissions. According to the requirements of the relevant statelaws and regulations, the vehicle fuel economy evaluation need to be done on the drum andworked in a specific test cycle. But vehicle chassis dynamometer test needs to be equipped withlarge test instrument and spends a lot of manpower and material resources. Engine bench test issimple and convenient to do. If we can do a forecast evaluation for vehicle fuel economy by theengine bench test, the development cost of automobile products could be effectively shorted.This paper introduces the domestic research on forecast the vehicle fuel economy, analysisthe test cycle described in the relatively national standard, uses some related knowledgedescribed in vehicle dynamics to calculate engine test point corresponds to vehicle road testcycle. Simplifying all test point by weighted average method and creating a transform model ofvehicle fuel economy test working condition.In addition, with a view on the whole over the current level of the internationally producedengine bench in the text, combined with laboratory engine bench, using LabVIEW software andsome hardware to design a set of vehicle fuel economy working condition test system based onbench test. The system develop in the features with friendly interface, parameter control, dataacquire and display as well as record., the system can automatic test according to the workingcondition transform model and get a data processing of every working condition point fuelconsumption data after the completion of test. The system make a vehicle fuel economyforecast by these data.
