With the development of the industry of hand tools, hand tools, not only themeans to solve problems in people’s daily life, it is the carrier of emotional valueand social,in order to meet people’s diverse consumer demand. Hand Tools hassentimental value and socio-cultural values, enhancing the competitiveness oftheir products, to win the favor of users. More importantly, the emotional andcultural value can improve the way of people live, and bring a new livingphilosophy.It’s far-reaching significance.Firstly, based on the semantics framework, study the developing situation ofhand tools design and semantic, and sort out the basics of semiotics andsemantics.Then integrate semantic knowledge with hand tool to summing up thehand tools design inspiration from semantics.Secondly, semantic of hand tools analysis in the paper: functional semanticanalysis, physical function, mode of operation, assembly methods, materials andprocess, four points reveal market information, the level of manufacturingtechnology and socio-cultural semantics connotation, summary up the conclusionsof the functional semantics of the product has its own unique shape symbols;semantic analysis of the market, thus completing the existing market conditionsand the interpretation of the brand strategy, drawn style symbols with ease,uniqueness,functional characteristics. And explore potential market, analyze andsummary the semantic features of the special consumer groups such as the elderly,children, women, find that the product will be small, lightweight, multi-functional,home style; symbol of semantic analysis, discuss hand tools semantic expressionof point, line, face, body, and analyze metaphor, metonymy, synecdoche, the roleof three rhetorical devices on semantic conveying.Thirdly, this article is based on semantics,and get a conclusion-need to payattention to do research on the emotional value and social and cultural values forhand tools. So as to explore the way of hand tools design by surrounding theemotional and cultural values, and summarize four principles,the people-oriented,object-oriented operating experience-oriented. At the same time, combined withfunctional semantics market semantics, symbolic semantics, summarize evaluationof sentimental value and cultural value of the rating scale, user scale, market scale,social scale, and three scale to the performance in the form of coordinate method.Finally, the theory and research analysis combined with smantic of specificconsumer groups in Germany guide for case design in order to verify rationality ofstudy, and provide theoretical reference and design concept in the field of handtools design.
