A Study Of Professor Yang Songlin’s Academic Course And Thought

The research of architectural history not only reveals its own development processand internal law, but also provides a pioneering direction for the further research. As anemphasis of architectural academic history study, architect’s personal academicachievement is an important part of the academic development chain. Therefore theacademic achievement of architect can not only reflect the development of academichistory, but also reveal the internal relation between personal achievement and socialbackground. Southwest region of China is one of the birth places of modern architecture,architectural history and architectural education. Its import role in architecturalacademic history and educational field can be traced back to the special “war” period.However, from the existing academic works, we can find the relative scarcity ofresearch on architectural academic history and architect of southwest region. It is urgentto study the southwestern architectural academy. For the above reasons, this studychooses an authority of the Chinese modern architectural history research in thesouthwest——Professor Yang Songlin.This paper is the first systematic study of Professor Yang Songlin’s academicthoughts in the academia, with a perspective of modern Chinese architectural history. Asa pioneer in the study of modern architecture history in southwest region, ProfessorYang Songlin’s academic thoughts have an important academic value for deeper studyof region’s modern architecture history. Yang Songlin’s academic research also reflectsthe development traces of a period in the history of modern Chinese architecturalresearch.Based on the papers of Professor Yang Songlin and the related oral material, thispaper is written by time string line. Firstly, this paper combings his grew up, schoolexperience and early work experience. And then, referring to the social developmentand personal academic achievements of his course stage, this paper divides his courseinto three periods based on modern architecture history: the exploration, the maturityand the expansion. This paper carries out a detailed and elaborate in his different periodsof historical background, research activities, research, and the objective comments.Finally, the last section summarizes the features of Professor Yang Songlin ‘sacademic course and thoughts, makes objective evaluation.
