The church lightenvironment should not only satisfy functional requirements for human physiologicaldemand, more is to express emotion symbolic significance and touch humanconsciousness. It needs architects to understand the religious origin, inheritance oftraditional church, regional culture and spirit of the context of the church, all of whichgives a person visual sense, psychological and spiritual multifaceted purification andbaptism.This thesis took the project of Tianjin JiZhuang church as the major case to studythe light environment design of church. First, summarized the light environmentdesign features and design techniques of church according to the analysis on the casesof the light environment of the historic churches and contemporary churches, whichwere taken as the project’s research foundation. Then, analyzed the background of theproject of Tianjin JiZhuang church, and raised design objective of the project and theproblems needs to be solved in the following design. In response to the questions andtarget, we posed a variety of angles of design strategy on the basis of the overallconsideration on space sequence, the function distribution, human behavior as well asthe religious spirit, and elaborated the design process of the four types of space inJiZhuang church. Finally, utilized software to simulate and evaluate the design resultsto verify that you meet the design target and took a comprehensive summarizing andreflection of the whole process of the design to gain practical experience and lessonslearned, in order to provide universal guidance and reference for practices ofcontemporary church design.
