As one of the brilliant traditional culture, funeral culture has a pivotal positionthroughout the Chinese civilization history. At the beginning of the primitivesociety, early humans had been taking simp le funeral activities for the funeral. WithChina’s comprehensive national strength enhancing, the funeral services have madelarge and rapid development, but during the period, it appears a variety of issues,such as land resource constraints, the terrible mass in graves burying, the poorlegislation on Bone Ash Storage Building and Cemetery and incompletion on thedesign specification, and Bone Ash Storage Building and Cemetery existing in ourcountry not meeting the design requirements. All of these promotes the need of theresearch on the design of Bone Ash Storage Building and Cemetery.The evolution of this paper comes from the origin and development of China’straditional burial culture, and which combines the Chinese traditional culture andthe thought Confucianism, contacting multiple religious systems, and elaboratingthe historical traceability and cultural reference of the funeral culture. And it is alsointroduced both the career situation of our country on the Modern Funeraldevelopment and the development and achievements of the funeral services fromthe founding of our country.In this paper several construction modes on the Bone Ash Storage Buildinghave been reviewed. And it also have been studied and analyzed from the state ofdevelopment to the completed instances of Bone Ash Storage Building. PlanningAnalysis have been done and data with research has been formed firstly, Somesignificant results of the technical indicators of planning design, including scale ofconstruction, road indicators, park functions partition indicators and et al has beenobtained. On the aesthetic side, the function partitions, internal traffic organizationand architectural design on Bone Ash Storage Building of our country and et al alsohas been studied secondly. Fina lly, this paper discussed the design basis and designtechnical indicators. With the examples mentioned, it is described and imagined thedevelopment of Bone Ash Storage Building construction and the futuredevelopment trend.Based on the related data results on the cemetery of our country, and both the statistical method and the inductive method, according to the existing nationalindustry standards and environmental behavior theory, we elaborate the Chinesecemetery design principles, methods and design technical indicators including thetwo aspects: planning design and facilities design. Besides these, a novel the designmethod called unit design is suggested. Meanwhile, considering the combinationof the future development direction of our cemetery, it is vividly described thecemetery facilities planning and architectural design direction according to somecemetery design examples, and all of these would reflect both our traditional FengShui philosophy and long buried cultural historical heritage.
