As an essential part of spacecraft’s thermal control system, thermal controlcoatings are being widely used. The organic thermal control white paint hasexcellent properties, but it needs improvements on its space stability and quality.Therefore, doing research on light and live-long organic thermal control white paintis specially meaningful.This passage uses domestic methyl terminated silicone resin, imports of methylterminated silicone resin, ZnO and modified ZnO powder as main raw materials.Discuss the synthesis process of new modified ZnO-based organic thermal whitepaint, and research the mechanism of radiation damage of above-mentionedZnO-based organic white paint after90keV proton irradiation.The test proves that modified ZnO-based organic thermal white paint whichuses self-made modified additives and modified ZnO powder as main raw materialsand domestic methyl terminated silicone resin as adhesives has optimalcomprehensive performance. The analysis and results before and after the irradiationshow that the organic thermal white paint which compounded by domestic methylterminated silicone resin and modified ZnO powder not only has good processperformance as film hardness, matrix adhesion, but also has well initiative opticalproperties(αs≤0.2)and radiation stability. After the injection quantity of90keVproton irradiation,△sof ZnO-based organic white paint eliminates to0.12. Thestability improves almost50%compared to ordinary ZnO white paint. The mainreason why the performance of ZnO-based organic thermal white paint degrades isthat ZnO has defection during the irradiation, according to analysis of Spectralsub-meter, FTIR spectrum and PL spectrum. Modified ZnO powder can effectivelyeliminates the variations and quantities of irradiation defects such as oxygenvacancy and zinc tim gap.This either improves the proton irradiation stability ofZnO powder, or effectively reduces absorb oxygen content in coating system, so asto lower the damage to the chemical bond in adhesives.Through the establishment of the three factors and three levels orthogonalexperiment and calculation of the critical volume of ZnO pigment concentration,finally confirm the optimal synthesis process of modified ZnO organic white paint.
