Articulated portable foot restraint(APFR) is the key device which is used forhelping astronauts to hold themselves when they are working in the space, out of thespacecraft or space station, so as to accomplish kinds of complex tasks. Smallvolume,light mass,simple manipulation, compact structure and3joints manualdirection change manipulation becomes one of technical index of articulated portablefoot restraint in researching period.Two posture adjustment configurations are put forward and these manipulationsare discussed in detail. Each configuration is analysed aiming at the objectiveparameters of design, then various property parameters are obtained and comparisonand selection of the configurations has been completed. Implementation principle ofthe load limiter is analysed. Design and selection of its bearing structure and supportscheme are accomplished. Three bearing schemes of load limiter are presented,and thebest scheme is obtained and futher designed, considering the principle of reliablityand simple construction. Detailed design of structure parameters of the final scheme isconducted and structure parameters of components are given reasonably. Staticsanalysis by using finite analysis software is finished. Structure design and staticsanalysis of the other components such as the pedal and interface are completed.Mechanical properties of elastic elements of load limiter are analysed.Dynamic simulation of articulated portable foot restraint’s3D model isconducted using ADAMS to verify force condition of moving and control joints,obtain velocity and acceleration curves of joints during the operation. Force situationof the spring in load limiter is simulated to verify the motion situation of load limiterunder impact, and the shock resistance of load limiter is verified through thesimulation analysis of the spring’s cushioning property.
