The Research On The Manufacturing Of Special-shaped Off-axis Aspheric Optical Mirrors

The large telescope is the main tool for observing celestial bodies. Because itsaperture is extremely large, the ideas for manufacturing this telescope is fabricating theaspheric mirror segments. Firstly, it divides the primary mirror into pieces of differentkinds of shaped mirror segments. Secondly, it is needed for fabricating mirror segments.For this reason, It is important to research the manufacturing of special-shaped off-axisoptical mirror segments.There are lots of means for manufacturing special-shaped off-axis aspheric mirrorsegments. Such as CCOS, CCAL and Bonnet polishing and so on. CCOS uses a smalltool to grind and polish a large optical workpiece. It is proposed early and its structureis simple. The research on using CCOS to manufacture special-shaped off-axis asphericmirror has a helpful meaning on other fabrication means.This article research the characteristic of tool influence function of CCOS based onthe Preston Equation. We corrected the static tool influence function when the toollocated at the inner area or at the edge area. And we simulated the dynamic toolinfluence function. According to the geometry characteristic of special-shaped off-axisaspheric workpiece, we plan the tool paths. At last, we calculated the dwell time bymended Tikhonov. Based on the model of manufacturing special-shaped off-axis mirrorsegments, we wrote a software for simulating manufacturing, and we used it to doexperiments. The result showed the correctness of manufacturing model.The analysis result provided a meaning for applying CCOS on special-shapedoff-axis aspheric mirror segments manufacturing.
