After years of a lot of oil resources exploitation, international energy supply has become tighter with petroleum feedstock for synthetic fuel production, the international impact of the high price of crude oil, the cost has increased dramatically.This paper discusses the coal tar hydrogenation technology, based on coal tar as raw material, relying on the current advanced control theory and control engineering, automation and control technology, large-scale production of clean fuel, to achieve a value-added use of coal tar resources, extends the using the depth of coal resources for the efficient and clean use of coal resources to find a new way that is economical and environmentally friendly, has a far-reaching strategic significance.The device features a long and complex process, operating conditions change frequently. Materials flammable, explosive, corrosive media, and there high temperature and pressure conditions, automatic control system reliability, very high security requirements. Therefore, design and production of automatic control system devices for improving their level of automation of the production process to ensure the safety and smooth operation has an important role.Coal tar hydrogenation unit automatic control system project detailed engineering design, including:the selection and installation design control scheme design process and instrumentation diagrams piping design, field instrumentation, distributed control system’s hardware configuration and software design, while in order to ensure the safe operation of the project to design a safety instrumented system.This paper introduces the background and significance of the research, the introduction of coal and coal tar hydrogenation of the history of fuel oil, while the control objectives and design tasks and technical difficulties are briefly described. Then start from the principle of coal tar hydrogenation of fuel oil, introduces the production process and operating conditions of critical control strategies; then elaborated controlled uniform provisions professional design, installation and instrumentation design selection and design of instrumentation; devices Research and implementation of the main control loop. The device uses advanced technology and reliable distributed control system (DCS), Safety Instrumented System (SIS) and quantitative loading systems for the process variable quality and reliable means of monitoring.This set of equipment to improve the level of coal tar hydrogenation project automation applications made a good attempt for future similar temperature, design pressure, high viscosity chemical plant automation system has a certain reference.
