With constant progress of science and technology, people on the textiles’functional demand is higher and higher. It is had to keep the clothes or textile clean all the time. So the textile is required to have the water-repellent functionality. Fluoride additives show superior performance. But the fluoride additives is harmful to the environment and human, so more and more non-fluoride water repellents are applied to the water repellent finish.With the environment friendly non-fluoride and non-silicon water repellents DM-3616, a research on the cotton twill and influence of fabric structure on the water repellency was finished.The padding-drying-curing method was used to treat fabrics with water repellent DM-3616in the first part of the subject. The relationship between agent concentration, curing temperature, curing time and spay test ratings dyeing were detailed.Orthogonal experiment was designed to optimize process conditions.The optimal conditions of the finishing process for fabric were determined by testing the changes of water repellency of the treated fabric with DM-3616:the fabric was padded through two dips and two nips, the concentration of DM-3616was40g/L, The fabric was cured at160°C for3min. For a repellent durability (washing times>30times) products need to add more than24g/L of isocyanate cross linking agent DH-3523. Then study the effect of repellent finishing of fabric, as well as the external conditions for sorting solution and repellent effect. Experiments show that water repellents is stable in the acid,hard water, on the contrary, in alkaline condition is not stable. The multifunctional composite finishing technology, which is defined that two or more than two functions are endued to a fabric so as to improve the fabric’s grade and added value, was studied in the last.The second part, the padding-drying-curing method was used to treat different fabrics with water repellent DM-3616. The effects of the yarn count, fabric density, fabric square meters long, fabric weight, porosity and other indicators were discussed in this part. The results showed that it is beneficial to the improvement of the water repellency to increase fabric floating length and improve yarn count. Fabric structure and porosity has a linear relationship and square meters fabric weight depends on the yarn and fabric density. And it is beneficial to the improvement of the water repellency to increase porosity and reduce the fabric weight. Finally,the law is verified by the water repellent DM-3668.
