With the development of economic globalization and the increasingly fierce market competition, the CNC machine tools industry of our country is facing huge challenge. For the machine tool industry of our country situating the world market, in order to adapt to the trend of economic globalization and fierce market competition, it must actively adopt some advanced design methods to improve product quality and performance, reduce production cost and shorten the design and manufacturing cycle. As one modern design method, modular design emerges as the time requires, which can rapidly respond to the market changes in the production model of low-volume, great variety and individuation, at the same time has the advantage of shortening product design and manufacture cycle, improving product quality and reliability, conducive to product repair and upgrade etc. Extensive attention has been paid to modular design in academia and manufacturing industry. CNC machine tools is the key base equipment of manufacturing industry, and the carrier of advanced manufacturing technology, so it has important theoretical and practical significance that using modular design method in the design and production of the CNC machine tools. The main contents of this thesis are outlined as follows:(1) After analyzed the existing module partition methods, this thesis put forward a scientific module partition method. With the method of function analysis, the total function is resolved into the sub-functions that are easier to realize, and the relevant sub-functions are integrated in one module by hierarchical clustering method.(2) This thesis described the purpose, principles and methods of the module coding and information required code. Based on the confirmed module coding rules of CNC machine tools, the code was divided into the module master code, the module interface code and the module drawings code. At the same time this thesis built the module code library, which simplified the management of module information. And with CNC machine tools of HTC series product family as an example the method was proved to be effective and practical.(3) Combined with modular design technology and CBR technology, this thesis proposed a modular configuration design method based on CBR of CNC machine tools. The thesis discussed the obtaining and transformation of the users’ requirements in the design of modular configuration of the CNC machine tools, the mapping of the users’ requirements into the technical characteristics by using the QFD. The thesis studied CBR technology using the fuzzy similarity priority ratio and grey correlation analysis algorithm respectively, realized the calculation of case priority and the case evaluation, elected the best match case with the user needs.(4) Based on the theory of module partition, module coding and database management, module configuration, this thesis developed the modular design system of the CNC machine tools by using MATLAB/GUI. And the running example of the system was also given.
