In this thesis, it puts forward design schemes and steps of support structure in large-scale plate column by applying the finite element analysis. On this basis, the truss beam structure is optimized by using the finite element analysis software ANSYS Workbench. Thereby, a foundation for digital manufacture on truss beam in large-scale plate column is laid.The characteristic of the support structure in large-scale plate column is introduced. The parallel-chorded truss beam is the best support for support structure in large-scale plate column. According to "Code for design steel structures" and "Technical specification of tower trays in petrochemical engineering", its structure design and checking method are introduced.With the truss beam in large-scale xylene tower, for example, there are different number of trays on it. The number of trays is N. According to number of trays, the truss beam is divided into two types:type1truss beam (N=2), type II truss beam (N>2). Finite element numerical calculation for these two different types of truss beam is performed by Solidworks. The equivalent (von Mises) stress nephogram and displacement nephogram are gained. On the basis of denoted above, calibrating calculation is conducted on its stiffness and strength.In this paper, the three ways including the material, quantity, structural parameters are analyzed. Optimization design of truss beam is performed in material, quantity and structural parameters. The structural parameter is one of the main optimization objects. The parameters of truss chord’s thickness and web members’ cross-section dimensions are defined as optimization variables. The strength conditions are defined as constraint condition and the quality of the model is defined as objective function. Made a solid model by solidworks, and optimized it by ANSYS workbench. The one best result is selected from three optimized results to round number. The result is checked, and the optimization design of truss beam in large-scale plate column is obtained.The above results, the truss beam in large-scale plate column is divided into two types. The application situations of two types truss beam are analyzed and compared. This paper has introduced structure of the truss beam and selection and calculation of related parameters. Finally, a generalized procedure for optimization design of the truss beam in large-scale plate column is given through using SolidWorks and ANSYS Workbench.
