This paper further explores the application of Deconstructivism in Fashion Design. With therapid economic growth, costumes carry more thoughts and ideas than before, expressing thecontemporary human cultures. Nowadays, fashion designers should stick to the major themeof Fashion Design that is to connect Chinese traditional design elements which wereaccumulated in thousands of years with the modern themes and to combine the individualityof costumes with the commonness of society. The young generation of80s is the mostpotential consumers in the future costume market, who are liable to be attracted by thedeconstructivist costumes which are complex in styles and various in forms. The uncertaintyof deconstructivist costumes makes them popular among young people, which is likely togrow stronger and finally take the leading place in Fashion Design. The first chapter throws lights on the meaning, background and content of the research. Thesecond chapter is devoted to explaining and decoding Deconstructivism and its basic features, based on the theories of Deconstuctivist Jacques Derrida. The history and development ofDeconstructivism is presented in chapter3. Through the exhibition of deconstruction inChinese Letters and landscape, the application of Deconstructivism in other art areas arestated in chapter4. Some case studies on the application of Deconstructivism in traditionaldeconstruction and deconstruction of costume organization, colors, materials and functionsare done in chapter5. The characteristics and formation disciplines of deconstructivistcostumes are discussed in chapter6. The original application of Deconstructivism in FashionDesign from the author is presented in chapter7.The process of deconstruction in Fashion Design is not the knowledge configuration in theform of unit but a holographic process, which is communicative. Even the costumesthemselves are the process of communication and participation. Therefore, designers shouldbreak the old construction to form new construction by enlarging the horizon and broaden the thoughts in Fashion Design. A brand new horizon of youth, fashion and multi-elements shouldbe created to bring out new definitions and standards on Fashion Design.
