The EB/SM technology is successful for a long period development, but still has some problem that limited the normal operation of the plant, also affect the material consumption and energy consumption.In this paper, on the basis of analyzing the large scale styrene processes, the HP/LP EB columns for styrene recovery system were introduced, and the operation were simulated with process simulation software. In view of the fault occurred in the design and the actual operation process is analyzed and optimized, and the new practical condition is applied to achieve the purpose of energy saving. The tar generated in the device result in material consumption, and further affect energy consumption. Through the tar factors analysis, and proposed solutions to reduce the tar oil emissions is carried out. Theoretical and practical combination, the result is not only to improve the stability of the styrene device, but also improves the yield of the styrene, the device’s material-and energy also decreased significantly.
