The process of producing the main product styrene, the byproduct toluene and intermediate product ethylbenzene from FCC dry gas is discussed. And the distillation system of separating styrene is optimized and designed. At present, the most advanced commercial technique of producing styrene is Lummus/Uop and Washington/Fina adiabatic dehydrogenation technology. Since 1980's, several sets of different scale styrene plants has been built in China using introduced technology. Some domestic institutes have combined to develop the technology of producing styrene by dehydrogenating ethylbenzene. In this thesis, the technologies of producing ethylbenzene from FCC dry gas and dehydrogenating ethylbenzene were discussed in detail. And the process of separation of styrene by distillation was simulated using the commercial software Process II developed by SIMSCI company in US. The thermodynamic method of SRK was used and suiTable model parameters were selected to optimize the distillation system composed of four columns. In result, the scheme of producing 100,000 t/a styrene by distillation was developed, through which the purity of styrene reach 99.6%, ethyl benzene 99.8% and toluene 98%.
