Sanitary napkins, diapers and pads surface layers are typically based on hot-air-through nonwovens, calendaring-bonded nonwovens, thin spun-bonded nonwovens, etc. while hot air-through nonwovens are most popularly used among all of them, because of its fluffy, high permeable and skin-friendly properties. In addition, spunlace non-woven material, has been widely used in the hygienic area around the world, at the same time, spunlace technology in our country are maturing every year and the product are using on the disposable goods, the market prospect in China will be good. This study combines hot air-through technology and spunlace technology, laminating the hot air-through non-woven fabric and silk fiber web together with spunlace method to produce comfortable Silk/ES nonwovens with high added value, short liquid strike-through time, low cover stock wetback. We studied the silk/viscose fabric and found that silk and viscose fiber are fibrillate during the process of comb and spunlace, from which form a layer of fluff on the surface of the nonwovens, and the fluff thus decreasing the surface tension of the fabric. This is the reason of silk/viscose’s long liquid strike-through time. To solve the problem, this study do hydrophilic treatment on silk/viscose nonwoven, while overstock wetback is too large after treatment. We adopt ES fiber and new process to solve this problem, which is to laminate silk fiber web and ES hot-air-through nonwovens through spunlace technology. Through optimizing liquid strike-through time and cover stock wetback, we selected optimal parameters of the fiber ratio, spunlace technology, nonwoven oil rate and so on. The spunlace times are6(30bar,50bar,60bar,70bar,70bar and70bar),nonwoven density is38g/m2, nonwoven oil rate is1.7%. In this way, the research made a new kind of nonwoven which overcome the problem of long liquid strike-through time, high cover stock wetback. This paper studied the relationship of fabric density, thickness, times of spunlace, tensile strength, oiling rate, liquid strike-through time, cover stock wetback, air permeability. The study shows, liquid strike-through time decrease with the increase of oiling rate and spunlace, increase with the increase of fabric density. Cover stock wetback increase with the increase of fabric density and oiling rate, increase and then decrease with the increase of times of spunlace. Air permeability decrease with the increase of fabric density and times of spunlace. Thickness decrease with times of spunlace. Tensile strength increase and then decrease with the increase of times of spunlace. The liquid strike-through time is shorter and cover stock wetback is smaller than Silk/ES nonwovens. In regard to comfort level, we tested and compared the rigidity and softness, bending stiffness, cold-hot sensation, compression performance of Silk/ES nonwovens, ES hot-air-through nonwovens, Silk/viscose nonwovens, the test shows that silk/ES nonwovens are softer and cooler than ES nonwovens, they are also fluffier and wormer than Silk/Viscose.
