Cork is recognized as the best bottles of wine sealed material, cork will directly affect the quality of the wine quality. With the improving of people’s living standard, more and more people began to drink wine, so the demand for cork is increasing. Natural cork stppers often present certain color owing to the lignin contained in cork which has chromophore and auxochrome. As for the physical appearance, majority of consumers favor light-colored cork stppers, and they believe that lighter color stppers means better quality. However, natural cork stppers usually appear brown and dark colors. Bleaching, therefore, has become an essential procedure during the production of wine cork.Through a large number of physical and chemical analysis and instrumental analysis, this paper researched the main components of the imported catalyst supplied by Hebei Bailin Cork Products Co. Ltd. Through experiments we know that the imported catalyst is an alkaline inorganic salt. In this paper, the imported catalyst was substitute by a cheaper catalyst named Catalyst CF-R, and the corresponding bleaching process was studied. Conducts cork stppers bleaching experiments with hydrogen peroxide, we can draw some conclusions as follow:Spray method is more suitable for cork stppers bleaching; In order to cut down the production cost, a novel catalyst CF-R for hydrogen peroxide bleaching to wine cork stoppers was chosen to substitute the traditional imported item; The optimized bleaching process for wine cork stppers was obtained as follows, H2O2concentration14%, catalyst CF-R dosage80g/L, bleaching temperature70℃and bleaching time60min; In order to solve the problem of overprexcessive amounts of hydrogen peroxide remaining in the cork stppers, different postprocessing techniques were chosen, the results showed that placing the cork stppers20days at50℃is the best one. The cork stppers thus treated could up to the national or enterprise standard with the hydrogen peroxide residues for0.13mg,capillary permeability for11.2mm, the moisture content for5.5%and the whiteness at level4.
