With the analysis of regional cultural characteristics and folk diet custom via investigation and literature research and a comparison with that of well-known foreign regions, it is explored that some local diet culture and craft inherited from our ancestors have been forgotten because their production process has been disconnected with the modern industry production chain. Based on the case study of the packaging design for Huangtuling Soy Products in You County, Hunan Province, it is analyzed, today, in our industrial civilization, what design technique will better embody the local cultural characteristics in regional food packaging design. The thesis also expounds how local culture can be reflected in the product’s romantic charm, the designing model, packaging structure and color by probing into the traditional fabrication process and workshop of local soy products in You County, so as to enhance the protection and inheriting of regional distinguishing culture, to facilitate our off springs to recall their childhood, inspire their hometown passion, and experience profound Chinese civilization, our classic philosophy and aesthetics.
