Coal occupies an important position in China’s energy consumption. With the economic and social development the energy consumption has improved continuously, and put a higher demand for coal mining capacity. However, China also suffers serious environmental problems combined with a large number of coal mining and utilization. As to the mine area, although the coal industry led to the development of the local economy, but also brought soil erosion, air pollution, water pollution and some other ecological and environmental problems. So the evaluation of the ecological risk on the mining area can provide technical support for the local ecological environment management decisions. It can also provide theoretical support and basic data for the development of ecological and environmental protection planning.This study takes a coal mine as an example, and on the basis of risk analysis it carries on the ecology risk assessment of pollutants (heavy metals to the soil as a source of risk) as well as mine regional ecological risk assessment.On the respect of ecological risk assessment of heavy metals pollution in the soil, depending on the soil heavy metal content data obtained, the latent ecological risk index method advanced by Hakanson.L. was used to evaluate the ecological risk of the main areas of the mine. Finally it comes to the conclusion that the entire mine heavy metal pollution latent ecological risk index RI<150, ecological risk were classified as minor degree.On the respect of regional risk assessment in mining area, taking the data obtained from the survey, unifying the mining area characteristic, following the ecology risk assessment’s general step, this article analysis risk source and receptor assays and exposure. The risk assessment took the overall mine area as a risk receptor and landscape pattern changes as the main source of risk. The ecological risk assessment carries on the analysis by "the pressure-risk source-end point" model, from the ecology service function value, landscape pattern changes. Based on this it selects the soil erosion,vegetation resources quantity, the gas conditioner, the water treatment, raw material, the landscape multiple indices, the mottling density,the uniformity index, to divide the dimension these9targets and establishes indicator system of ecology risk assessment in vulnerable mining area This study uses the gray evaluation model to carry on the risk quality synthetic evaluation in different stages from the original landform to decommission period, and has carried on the analysis to the result.
