The experimental teaching equipment of the rack processing technology has theadvantages such as multi-functional, simple structure, low cast, small size and safety, thusit can be introduced into the scientific research institutes, institutions of higher educationand higher vocational colleges for the engineering training and experimental teachingreplacing those designed for industrial use. This equipment can show the principle, theprocess cycle and the processing state of the rack processing technology in a simple andintuitive way, by the same time the control principle and control methods of modernnumerical control system are well introduced, it combines teaching demonstration andpersonally operation together so it can strengthen student’s knowledge and understandingabout the PLC numerical control system and the rack processing technology effectively.This paper developed a suit of experimental teaching equipment of the rackprocessing technology apply to the electromechanical integration teaching and engineeringtraining. The design of the overall system, mechanical structure and control system arediscussed in detail in this paper, the research of the experimental teaching is alsointroduced.First of all, this paper introduced the importance of gear and rack in mechanicalindustry and the necessity in developing the teaching experiment equipment for rack andNC machining. We analyzed the general structure of the experimental equipment,completed the overall scheme design of the equipment.Secondly, we completed the design of the mechanical structure according to theoverall requirements of the equipment. The overall mechanical structure of the equipmentis much easier than the industrial gear shaping machine,it is a simplified design based onthe basic skills of the gear shaping equipment. The overall mechanical structure is mainlydivided into three parts, main shaft part, the cutter shaft (C axis) and two axes workbench.We completed the detailed design of all the three parts of mechanical structure at the sametime.Finally, we completed the design of the control system according to the overallrequirements of the equipment. The design of the control system mainly includes the hardware design and software design of the control system. For hardware design,wemainly completed the overall design of the hardware for control system and theexperiment panel of the of the control system design, and we completed the selection ofmain components and the wiring diagram of control system too. For software design,wemainly studied the overall structure of the software system and used the comprehensiveexperiment of forming rack by generating method of as an example to introduce the PLCcontrol program,and the man-machine interface of VC++was designed at the same time.
