China has carried out the environmental impact assessment of construction projects since2003for the implementation of the sustainable development strategy, prevention of adverse impact on the environment due to the implementation of construction projects and promotes the coordinated development of economy, society and environment. Groundwater environmental impact assessment is an important part of the environmental impact assessment works and the basic information and datas of hydrogeology what is needed is provided by environmental hydrogeology exploration works that has been carried out. The bjectivity、scientific and accuracy of the environmental hydrogeology exploration works will directly determine the reliability of the evaluation work.The previously works involved geology and hydrogeology in Kuqa, Xinjiang Kengkou Power Plant2×660MW units project area are regional survey works of1:200000small-scale and the level of the environmental hydrogeology study lower,so specialized environmental hydrology geological survey works have to be carried out.By the integrated use of diverse indoor and outdoo environmental hydrogeology exploration methods this work identify the conditions and the characteristics of the environment hydrogeological in study area, obtaining hydrogeological parameters needed for the evaluation to achieve the purpose of providing a basis for the environmental impact assessment of groundwater.At the same time it provide a reference for the environmental impact assessment of groundwater for other thermal power projects in the Xinjiang region and then provides a typical example of the arid and semi-arid regions for "Technical guidelines of the Environmental Impact Assessment-Groundwater Environment".
