As an unconventional natural gas with a huge amount of resources,Coal BedMethane has been gradually developed and utilized from the solely research and study. This paper focused on the influencing factors of methane (CBM) extraction, and themethods of establishing of the evaluation of methane (CBM) extraction, based on thegas geological theory,.On the basis of the structure analysis and gas distribution law, considering theinfluencing factors of coal bed methane (gas) extraction, a systematic analysis has beenconducted on the occurrence and distribution of gas from the causes of coal bedmethane, coal reservoir properties, tectonization, sedimentation, hydro geologicalconditions, etc. The four main impact factors of gas extraction were determined byemploying the analytic hierarchy process, namely cap factors, reservoir factors, resourcefactors and geological factors, and other fourteen factors like the amount of resources, gas content, gas saturation, etc. The analytic hierarchy process model was finallydeveloped; By use of the establishment of the matrix, the weight of different factorsaffecting gas drainage objectives was also determined; Based on CBM practicalexperience, the quantitative evaluation criteria for the different factors was established, combined with expert scoring methodology to quantify the various sub-factors, and theweight of the factor in the evaluation system, Ultimately, the quantitative analysis andevaluation of the favorable areas of gas extraction were established.using the analytic hierarchy process method, a preliminary quantitative analysis andevaluation of the gas extraction potential has been carried out in seven mines of thisarea, and it can be divided into Class I, Class II and Class III, which corresponds to themost favorable gas extraction mine, more favorable gas extraction mine, and the leastgas extraction mine.
