Teacher’s knowledge which greatly impacts instruction has become a more and more popular study issue in education research field. This thesis mainly discussed a kind of professional knowledge which is essential to chemistry teacher-PCK of chemistry. In English, PCK stands for Pedagogical Content Knowledge. Generally speaking, PCK is a kind of complex knowledge and capability which at least contains subject matter knowledge, general pedagogy knowledge and teacher’s adaptive knowing and understanding of these complex issues. To study this very complex issue, complexity theory was introduced to explain the complex nature and structure of PCK,in a systematic view.In this study, multi-methods research was employed. With positive evidence from a chemistry instruction design task which is closed to real school task, the main elements of PCK and the relationship between them were described. In addition, this research partially examined and recorded how the teachers involved, understood, constructed and developed their own PCK.Conclusions below were given by this researchPCK is a kind of systematic knowledge and capability, which is integrated by three main parts:content knowledge, general pedagogy knowledge and contextual knowledge.PCK has many characters of complex systemThere are several more hypogynous knowledge and capability elements in each of the three parts of PCK which has a special "hierarchy-nested "structure.Teachers enlarge and develop their PCK in practice in many waysBased on conclusions above and early research, A new integrated model of PCK was created...
