Geographical Distribution And Protection Status Of Threatened Species Of Anatidae In China

The species of Anatidae play an important role in wetland system as well as a main subject in the protection of wetlands. Since1970’s,plenty of wetland Nature Reserves have been established to provide Breeding grounds, stopover sites and overwinter sites for the species of Anatidae. With the rapid growing of economic in China, more and more wetlands have been explored. Uncontrolled hunting activities and other human disturbance lead to an extremely rapid population decline and the distribution range contraction. In order to better understanding of the geographical distribution and protection status of Anatidae in China, a database was established. Six threatened species of Anatidae including were selected to identify the geographical distribution pattern and key sites of these species. The main results are as followed,The wintering key sites for Swan Goose are lies in Poyang Lake National Nature Reserve in Jiangxi Province, Shengjin Lake National Nature Reserve and Anqing Yangtze Riverine Wetalnd lakes in Anhui Province. Zhanglong National Nature Reserve, Xingkai Lake National Nature Reserve in Heilongjiang Province are stopover key sites; The wintering key sites for Lesser Whited-fronted Goose are lies in East Dongting Lake National Nature Reserve in Hunan Province, Shengjin Lake National Nature Reserve and Poyang Lake National Nature Reserve in Jiangxi Province Zhanglong National Nature Reserve and Xingkai Lake National Nature Reserve in Heilongjiang Province are stopover key sites; The wintering key sites for Falcated Duck are East Dongting Lake National Nature Reserve in Hunan Province, Shengjin Lake National Nature Reserve and Poyang Lake National Nature Reserve in Jiangxi Province. Xingkai Lake National Nature Reserve in Heilongjiang Province is stopover key site; The wintering key sites for Baikal Teal are Yancheng National Nature Reserve in Jiangsu Province, Chongming Dongtan National Nature Reserve in Shanghai. Xingkai Lake National Nature Reserve and Memege National Nature Reserve are stopover key sites; The wintering key site for Baer’s Pochard is Poyang Lake National Nature Reserve in Jiangxi Province, Sanjiang plain is breeding key site and Xingkai Lake National Nature Reserve is stopover key site; The wintering key site for Baer’s Pochard is Poyang Lake National Nature Reserve in Jiangxi Province, Sanjiang plain is breeding key site and Xingkai Lake National Nature Reserve is stopover key site; The wintering key sites for Scaly-sided Merganser are Yiyang County and Wuyuan County in Jiangxi Province and Bishui Nature Reserve is breeding key site.
