The limited storage of fossil fuels and the pollutions to the environment during their combustion let people focus on new clean energy sources. As one kind of clean and renewable energy with high energy density and good stability, Wave energy is highly favored by developers. The target of "120kW floating type hydraulic wave power station pilot" project is to design and develop one kind of wave energy device. The point absorber principle is used in the project, which captures wave energy depending on the relative movement between the floating body and the main body. The three chains which flexibly fix the main body can cushion partial impact of waves to protect the device. The heave damping plate is installed at the bottom of the main body to reduce the heave motion of the main body. The research on the hydrodynamic characteristics of the heave damping plate is done to complete the design work of the heave damping plate.Firstly, gave a comprehensive introduction of the research approach and status of heave damping plates. Introduce the research achievement in numerical model, simulation studies and physics experiments. Enumerate the research status of different factors to the hydrodynamic characteristics of heave damping plates. Then, put forward research methods and research focus of this article.Secondly, establish the motion equations of heave damping plate. According to the motion characteristics of the heave damping plate, use three coordinates to describe the motion, and illustrate the mutual conversion among the three coordinate systems. After establishing the motion equations of the heave damping plate, simplify the equations by the structural characteristics of the heave damping plate and the law of waves. Get the equation of three degrees of freedom which is studied in this article.Thirdly, in order to study the role of viscous fluid movement to the heave damping plate, establish a three-dimensional numerical wave tank. On the basis of wave information, study the characteristics of local wave movements and hydrological conditions of the depth which the heave damping plate sits. Based on the relevant experimental norms, establish wave tank. After completing the settings in the Fluent software, simulate wave tank. According to the results of simulation, adjust wave tank.Fourthly, study the hydrodynamic characteristics of the heave damping plate in wave tank. Putting the heave damping plate model into numerical wave tank, observe the force on it and the surrounding flow. Write UDF program according to the force on the heave damping plate. Using the secondary development function of the Fluent software, get the movement of the heave damping plate in the water. Change the structural elements of the heave damping plate, and obtain hydrodynamic characteristics by different conditions.Finally, complete the design of the heave damping plate. According to the results of the simulation and physical experiments of the small overall model previously obtained, complete the design work of the heave damping plate combining with research of other scholars on the hydrodynamic characteristics of the heave damping plate. Verify the reasonability of the design of the heave damping plate through static limit loads analysis, modal analysis and dynamic loads analysis.
