Numerical wave tank is a new technology for simulating wave,current,and ocean structures interaction based on computational fluid dynamics.The applications of numerical wave tank have become a research focus as the computational fluid dynamics has matured.This paper constructed a three-dimensional numerical circulating water channel model to realize simulation on wave-current interaction as well as wave absorber performance.The VOF(Volume of Fluid)model is used to track the interface of two-layer fluids.The results of numerical simulation on regular wave are validated by experiments and show that this numerical water channel can not only generate stable and accurate waves but also be applicable in studying the interaction between wave and offshore structures.Numerical wave tank has considerable value in the study on wave,current and structures interaction.The wave propagation and wave-current interaction in a circulating water channel are investigated experimentally and numerically.Numerical simulations of regular wave,irregular wave,focus wave,and wave-current interaction are carried out systematically using this numerical water channel from a view point of the model experiment purposes in field of naval architecture and ocean engineering.Some results of numerical simulation show good agreement with those of corresponding physical model tests carried out in the circulating water channel.As conclusions,the results indicate that the proposed numerical wave channel can be an efficient tool for simulating wave propagation in current,wave-current interaction and the deep-water wave characteristics can significantly modified by wave-current interaction.Moreover,the interaction between wave and wave absorber in current is also studied and a new type wave absorber has been developed.The numerical results of regular wave interacting with wave absorber were compared with the experiment results to verify the numerical method.The change of reflection and transmission coefficient of the wave absorbing device of different wavelength,wave height and water flow is discussed.The results show that the reflection coefficient and transmission coefficient increase with increased wavelength.The reflection coefficient increases and transmission coefficient reduces with increased wave height.A conclusion is drawn that the wave dissipation device has good wave-absorbing performance.
