Desert algae crust, as a primary form of biological soil crusts, plays an important role in enhancing the desert surface erosion ability, improving the desert nutrient, maintaining the desert soil moisture and promoting the Psammophytes species to colonize and restore. Technology of the artificial desert algae crust is using desert algae ecology and physiology theory, and biotechnological soil crust theory, separating, purifying, breeding a preponderant algae from natural desert algae crust. Access the preponderant algae on the sand surface after artificial batch cultivation, and the rapid formation and development of a primary scale desert algae crust. It is a technology to combat desertification. We introduced this technology to the existing technological system for desertification control in Minqin, carried out a series of works for the application of the artificial desert algae crust technology.We surveyed the desert algae crust in different sand control areas in Minqin, then we collected and analyzed the physical, chemical properties of the25soil samples (0~2cm) from the five experiment groups. According to the four indexes comprehensive ranking, the samples from the straw square group has the highest consolidated qualify,and the sandy square group has the lowest consolidated qualify. In the case of single index, the samples from the straw square group have the most mechanical composition, the highest pH value and the highest calcium carbonate level and the fourth highest soil moisture level.In order to accelerate the formation of the desert algae crust on the dune surface, we investigated the effect of different factors in the laboratory ecological condition. Our results indicated that the optimal ecological condition for the formation of algae crust are the inoculum size of10μg·cm-2, the soil moisture content of10%and the soil type straw squares.On the basis of algae germplasm preservation, we carried out a mass storage research with the desert algae species. Our work showed that the solution immersion culture method is only suitable for the short-term preservation, the dried preservation in shade at room temperature is limited to the long-term preservation, moreover, freezing at the-20℃can be either a short-term or long-term preservation method.Based on our work, we selected a typical soil sample type and implemented the test on the formation of desert algae crust in the wild. Our study to obtain the feasibility technology scheme is inoculating on the surface of the straw square sand dunes with a10μg-cm-2as the initial inoculum. the watering time of W (at night), the watering content of1000ml·m-2, the BG11nutrient solution amount of1500ml·m-2.
