Mathematical competition can primely improve the mathematical ability and mathematical thinking of high school students. CMO(Chinese Mathematical Olympiad) is one of the most important competition in high school, the statistical analysis about the CMO can promote development of mathematical competition and thus increase passion for high school students learning math, and then benefit for math’s popularization. This article uses statistical analysis technique researching examination questions of CMO,examination questions of IMO and results of CMO. Chapter one is research background, research significance, method and thought. Chapter two is preliminary knowledge, firstly, it introduces the origin and development of mathematical olympiad (including CMO and IMO), and then it tells the principle of ANOVA and multiple comparisons. The core content of this article is chapter three, firstly, this chapter counts the examination questions of CMO from the first session to the28th session to analyze types, knowledge point and its variation tendency, compares all these to examination questions of IMO, and do potential prediction about the important knowledge point of mathematical olympiad. Secondly, uses SPSS software package to do the One-Way ANOVA of CMO results in last few years, and then discusses the possible reasons of student achievement difference in different areas.
