With the development of science and technology,3D electronic map has gradually replaced the traditional2D electronic map, becoming the main trend of development. Compared with it,3D map is convenient, intuitive, artistic and so on, and these advantages have been deeply attracted the public’s attention. But in the real world, the geographic information is not evenly distributed, but there is no rule and not evenly distributed. So there is the multi-resolution3D geospatial model. Multi-resolution3D geospatial model mainly use three dimensional display technology to display geographic information in different areas of the distribution with different resolution.This text takes the resolution,3D spatial model and LOD concept as the theoretical basis to analysis the disadvantages of elevation points and contour to express two dimensional multi-resolution terrain and put forward the concept of multi-resolution3D geospatial model. According to the characteristics of multi-resolution3D geospatial model, this text puts forward three kinds of expression, the detailed expression, general expression and merging; Brief three kinds of commonly used3D terrain modeling method, such as contour model, rules of irregular triangle net and mesh, and on this basis, compare the merits and demerits of irregular triangle net and rules, analysis the advantage of irregular triangle net in the expression of terrain multi-resolution, using irregular triangle net generating multi-resolution3D terrain model. Proposed multi-resolution expression of three-dimensional object is divided into shape, properties, and the texture multi-resolution expression. And from three aspects to elaborates the characteristics of multi-resolution geographical spatial model that they are determining the need to describe object, the3D data storage, and the expression of logical relationship and how to display model. Described the methods of obtain three dimensional data, analysed the optimal slightly potential in multi-resolution3D data acquisition, and summary of the3D data acquisition method of multi-resolution3D geospatial model expressed in detailed regional and general expression. This text proposed multi-resolution electronic map production processes and methods which was taken as a multi-resolution3D geospatial model of reproduction. And based on the "waist town shangluo three-dimensional digital" project data to proceed multi-resolution3D geospatial model experiment. Multi-resolution3D model is the terrain and terrain matching integration, describing the problems when matching integration, and putting forward the solutions, and then multi-resolution spatial model being displayed for3D in ArcScene platform.
