In order to make research on the significance of fractal dimension value of spatialdistribution of regional landslides and variable dimension fractal characteristics betweenspatial distribution of regional landslides and it’s influencing factors, this paper tskes the187landslides of Nanxi area, Yibin city, Sichuan Province which happened between2001and2012as data samples, using on-site survey, geological qualitative analysis and quantitativeresearch based on fractal theory, analysis on developmental type, distribution pattern andformation conditions of landslides of Nanxi area, study the fractal characteristics andsignificance of fractal dimension value of spatial distribution of regional landslides of Nanxiarea, and make quantitative research on of the relationship between spatial distribution ofregional landslides and it’s influencing factors based on the variable dimension fractal theory,the following conclusions can be obtained through the above research:(1)Through box-counting method, the fractal dimension value of spatial distribution ofregional landslides of Nanxi area is1.1858, it’s correlation coefficient is0.9834. Afterclassification partition, except for a few region with small landslide distribution does not haveself-similarity, the correlation coefficients of the fractal dimension value of other small areawere greater than0.9, and the fractal dimension value of each area were Less than the wholeregion.(2) Through compared and geological qualitative analysis the the fractal dimension value ofeach area, it can be found that the fractal dimension value of spatial distribution of regionallandslides is the comprehensive reflection of stratigraphy, lithology, structure, topography, rainfall andother factors affecting the spatial distribution of landslide, and it is the quantitative expression ofregional landslides’ development complexity and susceptibility. Therefore, the information oflandslide spatial distribution fractal characteristics has an important significance to divisionfor the landslides-prone areas, the calculation of fractal dimension can be an importantsymbol of the division for the landslides-prone partitions. (3)Through make quantitative research on the relationship between spatial distribution ofregional landslides and it’s influencing factors based on the variable dimension fractal theory,the spatial distribution of landslides in the study area is in original fractal distributioncharacteristics with slope and small watershed, is in one-order cumulative total fractaldistribution with aspect, stratum and elevation, illustrate that the landslide space distributionof Nanxi area has high sensitivity to he slope and small watershed, significantly greater thanthe aspect, stratum and elevation. Therefore, the variable dimension fractal characteristicsbetween the landslide spatial distribution and it’s influencing factors provided the quantitativebasis for selection of evaluation factors and assign weights of landslides-prone partitions andrisk zoning.
