According to the current domestic and overseas study situations, fractals is only used to calculate the correlation dimension and power spectrum dimension of a well-logging in the log interpretation. The rescaled analysis and the multifractal analysis of a well-logging exist in a fewer references as well. In fact, the fractal theory is not only the dimension calculation, but also includes a plenty of other subjects. So it is the aim of this paper that is researching the log interpretation theory and method widely and systematically with the fractal theory. Being researched widely and systematically and applied initially, here are some creative conclusions below: ⑴The log interpretation methods are widely and systematically studied with the fractal theory at the first time. The calculating methods, algorithms and programs of a well-logging's box dimension, correlation dimension, rescaled analysis, power spectrum analysis and multifractal analysis are widely studied after summarizing the primary subjects and basic methods. And then the fractal log interpretation theory and method are initially probed. So some theoretical bases and more effective techniques are supplied for the deep study of inhomogeneous formation's log interpretation methods. ⑵The technique to calculate the well-logging fractal dimensions sample-by-sample is put forward at the first time. The zone window technique in the calculations of well-logging fractal dimensions is imported to give a very good way to complete the technique calculating the well-logging fractal dimensions sample-by-sample. So the application range of well-logging fractal dimensions is expanded in the log interpretation and the key technique of fractal log interpretation sample-by-sample is supplied. ⑶The ideal well-logging is applied to study the fractal characteristics of well-logging. The viewpoint that the well-logging fractal dimensions can not identify the lithology of formation is definitely put forward on the basis of ideal well-logging's fractal characteristics. ⑷The problem of reservoir's inhomogeneity is initially researched through the fractal dimensions of well-loggings. The results show that the reservoir's inhomogeneity is stronger, the well-logging's fractal dimension is higher. So it is important that the reservoir's fracture degree is researched and the different log interpretation parameters are chosen for different inhomogeneous formations according to the results. ⑸The fractal Gauss noise interpolation and the fractal Brown movement interpolation of a well-logging are imported at the first time so that the enough basic conditions are given to the method study to improve the well-logging's vertical resolution. ⑹The difference among the methods to improve well-logging's vertical resolution is quantitatively studied with the statistic method initially and the viewpoint is put forward that the style of multiple fractals exists in all formations in an area. So the results are valuable for the study of thin reservoirs or thin interactive reservoirs. ⑺The concept of a rock fractal volume model is put forward at the first time and its well-logging response equation is explored to derive from the fractal theory initially. So the theoretical foundation is formed to study the fractal log interpretation methods. ⑻The fractal log interpretation software system is developed at the first time, that has full functions and higher visualization and is good at the windows operating system. So it would make the study, development and spreading of the fractal log interpretation software advance and create the good conditions for its field applications. The theoretical researches are main parts of this paper, but some practical applications are also involved in it. So it would have some valuable references in the study of log interpretation about the inhomogeneous formations and take some advanced effects in the abundance and development of log interpretation theory and method.
