With the marine development into the three-dimensional development phase, atthe same time in the further development and utilization of traditional marineresources, constantly continue to exploit and develop the strategic resources andenergy in the deep sea, and vigorously expand the development space of marineeconomy. The technology of marine exploration is becoming more and moreimportant in the marine development, at present the applications of underwaterimaging technology combined with laser technology in ocean exploration becomesmore and more widely, detection of underwater target detection is a key technology inthe deep-sea exploration.Due to the particularity of the marine environment, the development ofunderwater target detection faces the key technical problems of underwaterbackscatter and the attenuation for water to light energy, aiming at these problems thispaper proposes a double laser for underwater target two-dimensional detectingtechnology, the main principle is based on the theory of digital image processing, thecombination of camera imaging principle and laser triangulation ranging method, bymeans of the parallel double laser to detect the two-dimensional information ofunderwater target. This system takes advantage of the laser’s features such as highenergy, strong brightness and good mono-direction, and make laser as the light sourceof the detection system, then comprehensively use the technologies of digital imageprocessing such as: image intensification, image segmentation and edge detection, morphological processing, zone marker, extract the center of gravity, to realize thefeature extraction of underwater laser spot image’s pixel distance, finally useMATLAB software to fit the functional relationship of the between the measuredtarget two-dimensional information and the laser spot’s pixel distance of underwater target image. Experimental part of this article mainly includes the verificationexperiment of the principle in the air and actual underwater experiment, through theabove two experiments to achieve the validation for the feasibility and accuracy of thesystem’s principle. This system not only has a relatively simple principle structure and avoids thecomplex picture pick-up system calibration, it has a broad application prospects suchas: exploitation and utilization in the marine resources, underwater detection, rescuework etc.
