One of the most serious natural disasters in the world are thunder and lightning.Especially, they caused a lot of problems during the rescue in the earthquake ofWenchuan, Sichuan Province happened in12th May2008. They have threatened thesafety of the earthquake victims and the air rescue teams. Therefore monitoring thethunder and lightning and collecting the data for scientific analysis is the most importantjob to reduce threaten and to improve the social safety.Monitoring and collecting thunder and lightning’s data are mainly focus on recordevery activity and its frequency in order to analysis the polarity, intensity of thelightning and its performance. From the data we can analyse each region activity andtheir characteristics in order to plan an accurate disaster and recovery plan to protect thelocation and help others.Firstly, this report introduce the meaning of the monitoring research backgroundand comparing the current situation of the thunder and lightning at home and abroad.Secondly, explain the theory of the thunder and lightning monitoring; analyse thelightning positioning technology and the system structure; then design a data monitoringsystem which can automatic process and analysis the original data and produce reportsin charts, tables, two-dimensional graphs format etc. Finally, analyse and comparethe data collected from Sichuan Province in2008and2009to evaluate the best locationfor the reconstruction and make the best protection planning.According to the study and analysis of the ChuangXi’s thunder and lightning data,this report are focus on the following points:1. To develop a new thunder and lightning monitoring system to build a betterreport system and to ensure the data collaborated more efficiency. During thisre-designing process people can learn new research ideas and to develop new methodsof the analysis which contribute to the future studies.2. In Ganzizhou area, the thunder and lightning are highly active at15to23hoursand between April and October each year. People should reduce their outdoor activitiesduring this high risk period. 3. The main characters of the Sichuan’s thunder and lightning is mainly distributein the basin rather than the highland after analyse and study the whole province’s data.Special the populated area with in the basin and the area between basin and highlandthat the thunder and lightning are the most active area; the thunder and lightning arefrequently come up in the flat area rather than the maintain area in the basin.4. Analyse and compare the thunder and lightning’s performance in various areasto build a harmonious society such as how to provide a safety area for the explosion job;best place for the construction and the safety for mining industrial etc.
