In combination of field trip, the fixed-point observation, sampling, detection anddata analysis, this paper focuses on the jujube trees in the Neihuang county of Henanprovince in the warm temperate zone. In terms of such factors as climate, landforms, hydrology, soil, biology and plant pests etc, this paper analyzes the influence of thenatural environment in this region on the growth of jujube trees to reveal the naturalfactors that affect the yield and quality of the local red dates and to contribute to theproduction of red dates.Study on the climate conditions shows that the climatic resources of this regionare characterized by sufficient sunshine, abundant heat, a longer frost-free period, strong photosynthesis conducive to the accumulation of the organic matter andrelatively great temperature difference between day and night favorable for theaccumulation of sugar. The season of spring featuring lower rainfall, drought, moresunny days and relatively adequate light and heat serves to be a good period for jujubetrees to sprout and be in full blossom. High temperature and heavy rain in summerhelp to facilitate the fast-growing fruit of jujube trees. The average temperature of24℃to27℃in summer is favorable to the vitamin C synthesis and accumulation. Theweak autumn wind ensures the steady maturity of the fruits. What’s more, the averagetemperature of17.9℃in autumn makes it easy for the formation of different aminoacids.Neihuang has the landform of vast and flat plain landscaped by the riveralluvium and the wind sedimentation in the fourth Ice Age. It has deep soil with twocategories of moisture soil and aeolian sandy soil which mainly are sandy soil, clay, silt etc. Besides, the jujube tress has the biological features of tolerating drought, cold, infertility, salt and alkali. According to the landforms of Neihuang county, farmerss inthis area have been choosing to grower jujube trees. Practice has proved that jujubetrees growing in this area basically realizes the optimal combination of economy andecology. Therefore, jujube trees have been highly promoted in Neihuang countythe dry weather in spring, nearly80%of the ground water is used in agriculture. However, the use of water resources is low-efficient due to flooding irrigation. Thishas given rise to some ecological problems, secondary salinization of soil for example.Neihuang county is the ancient course of the Yellow River and abounds in groundwater which lives up to the standard of irrigation. The soil in this region has relatively low organic content and moderate pHvalue with rich total phosphorus and insufficient total potassium and nitrogen. Traceelements (e.g. Zn, Mn, Cu, Fe, B) are inadequate in different level. Therefore, it isnecessary to supplement bio-fertilizer, nitrogenous and potash fertilizer and to controlphosphate fertilizer while a proper amount of such trace elements as S, Fe, Mn, Znand B should be added. In general, the red date in this area is of high yield and of good quality, abounding with amino acids, carbohydrates and vitamins. The fresh dates taste sourand sweet while the dried ones tend to be fragrant and sweet.
