The “copying and compiling writings”, whoes development reached its peak in theQing Dynasty, occupy a fairly great part of Chinese ancient traditional documents.Meanwhile, a great number of masterpieces had been created, and they were all ofsuperior quality. Throughout the scientific literature of “copying and compiling writings”in Qing Dynasty, they are either fragmented or widespread. The research of this papermainly consists of three aspects:Firstly, the development of “copying and compiling writings” in Qing Dynasty,cannot apart from social-political, economic, cultural and formative factors. Politicalstability, economic development, academic atmosphere’s transmutation, cultural policies’alteration and highly developed book industry, afford fertile soil and infinite ingenuity tothe the development of “copying and compiling writings” in Qing Dynasty, which wasthe era background of their prosperity.Secondly, the “copying and compiling writings” in Qing Dynasty, can be dividedinto three types: convergent type, selective type and classified type. The abundantscientific literature that are contained in the “copying and compiling writings”, is ahighly characteristic and valuable resource. This paper describes all types of “copyingand compiling writings” in Qing Dynasty, such as “Authorized Books”,“Yuan Ming LeiShi chao","Ruan Xiang Tong Yi Lu",“Book Collection”,“Ge Jing Zhi Yuan” and so on.They are all excellent representative among the “copying and compiling writings”, andprovide invaluable information to the field of scientific research in the Qing Dynasty. Inaddition, there are a lot of other “copying and compiling writings".They cannot bediscussed here for lack of space.Thirdly, the author summarizes the characteristics, value and shortcomings of thescientific literature among “copying and compiling writings” in Qing Dynasty.On anoverall basis, this paper aims to provide an objective analysis and evaluation of thescientific literature from multiple angles.As a result, based on these analyses, the author hopes that more attention will bepaid to the values of the scientific literature among “copying and compiling writings” in Qing Dynasty. The role of “copying and compiling writings” in the history research ofscience should not be underestimated. With the further research, they will have greatforeground in the application of the science and technology.
