In recent years, as leaders of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region repeatedly stressed the importance of fruit industry in Xinjiang and focused on the development of fruit industry with local characteristics, characteristic fruit industry in South of Xinjiang has been developing steadily with expanding scale and output and increasingly evident variety and feature. With the implementation of structural adjustment of agriculture and returning farmland to forest, the fruit and industry has become the second pillar industry after cotton industry in the South of Xinjiang, becoming a new growth point of the rural economy and an important way to increase farmers’ incomes in this region.Taking the fruit industries in five prefectures in southern Xinjiang as research objects and through the literature collection, this paper summarized the previous studies on the fruit industry in southern Xinjiang. Meanwhile, with the introduction of regional economic radiation theory and the theory of industrial radiation, this study is based on the characteristics of industrial radiation, applies the methods of comparative analysis and the integration of theory and practice, and proposes, directly and indirectly, the radiation effects of the fruit industry in Southern Xinjiang on various aspects of this region. First, the aging effects of the fruit industry on increasing farmers’ incomes and the agricultural output, the direct passing effects on fruit sales and related processing enterprises and the effects on the level of industrial structure are the reflection of the direct radiation effects; secondly, the spin-off effects reflected in finance, insurance and cooperation, the superposition effect reflected in the growth of freight traffic volume and the development of fruit industry research in Xinjiang and dynamic effects reflected in the improvement of ecological environment are the demonstration of indirect radiation effects; Finally, based on the situation of direct and indirect radiation effects, this paper comes up with the coping strategies for promoting the radiation effects of fruit industry in southern Xinjiang from several aspects. While enriching the previous studies on the forestry and fruit industry in this region, this research also helps to complete the theories related to industrial clusters and industrial radiation in industrial economics. From a realistic perspective, it is of exceedingly practical significance, with of the push of industrial radiation influence, to better intensify the sustainable development of the rural economy, adjust the agricultural structure, increase farmers’ income, narrow the gap between the urban and the rural areas and spur the transfer of surplus rural labor forces so as to advance the economic development of this region.
