Study Of Gansu Province Rural Poverty

Poverty has been one of important problem for the society and thecountry.Eliminating poverty and realizing the common prosperity are thebasic requirements of the socialist system. Gansu province is one of therelatively backward western provinces,with poverty population densityand wide distribution, and eliminating poverty is difficult.Economicdevelopment of Gansu is faced with many problems andrestriction.Although along with the social progress and increasing ofpoverty relief, the economic of gansu province have a certaindevelopment and absolute poverty has been basically eliminated, butpoverty still exists and harder to alleviate. Therefore,analysis of ruralpoverty in gansu province has important practical significance.This paper is based on the theory of poverty and the understandingof rural poverty in gansu province, and to make overall analysis andevaluation of gansu province with the second agricultural census data.Then We investigate farmers of WeiYuanXian in gansu province and theinvestigation content includes: the construction of rural infrastructure, thefarmers’ income and consumption, education, communications, labortransferation，social security and so on.Then we can analyze the problemsand put forward the suggestions to solve the problem. The main contentof this paper can be divided into five parts:The first part is prodromes and mainly includes the research background and significance and the related literature review.The second part is the basic theory and related indicators of poverty.Introducing the poverty theory and index is the base of empirical analysis.The third part is basic on the analysis of rural poverty andcharacteristic in gansu province, then to carry on the empirical analysis ofthe causes of poverty with the second agricultural census data.The fourth part is according to the rural household survey data ofWeiYuan to analyze typical poverty problems in gansu province,and toreflect the effects of all aspects of the development on the rural poor.The fifth part is combined with the analysis of part three and partfour,then to put forward the suggestions to eradicate poverty, improvefarmers’ living standards and develop the rural economy,according todifficulties of anti-poverty in gansu province.
