Study On The Influence Factors Of Regional Tourism Industry’s Efficiency

At the national tourism working conference in2008, it was promoted that the development pattern of tourism be transformed from the expansive scale model to the connotative intensive one, and it was necessary to speed up the pace of industrial structure of tourism’s optimizing and upgrading. With rapidly increasing living standard at home and abroad, tourism in China would have a faster development. At present it is the trend that the output of tourism depends on expanding the scale of the industry. A variety of inputs is not utilized sufficiently though efficiency of tourism industry keeps rising on the whole. So in this case, questions exist that what are the factors of changing efficiency, how to identify these factors and how to enhance the efficiency of tourism industry to ensure the tourist industry develop harmoniously and sustainably. This thesis conducted a series of in-depth research on these questions.At first, efficiency, tourist industry and efficiency of regional tourism industry are defined, followed by a review, classification and summary of the domestic and overseas literature related to efficiency of tourism. It is deduced that domestic research is relatively narrow and mainly focuses the macro-level and middle-level comparison with long-established external research which focuses on micro-level and moves toward refining and improving function.Secondly, the key affecting factors of changing efficiency of regional tourism industry are identified by using multilevel grey evaluation model and verified by means of panel data model. It is demonstrated that fixed-asset investment, developing level of service industry and locational conditions are beneficial to improving efficiency. The negative impact factors of service industry development scale would lead to a drop in tourism efficiency, though not prominent. Regional economic development level can not have a significant impact on the efficiency of tourism.Finally, three countermeasures-integration of tourism industry, adopting competitive and cooperation model of tourism development and establishing innovation system of tourism industry-are proposed according to the analysis results so as to contribute to the improvement of the efficiency of regional tourism industry.
