The issue, use change of cultivated and protection for cultivated land, have became an important component of development plan for agriculture development and urbanization progress. More attention focused on the research of cultivated land use change and its driving factors, would be beneficial to the anticipation for the rational utilization of cultivated land, ensuring the regional food security and promotion of harmonious development for regional community.Chendu, a land of abundance, served as object of this research. This paper divide Chengdu city into different analysis parts according to administrative region and economic trends circle. Meanwhile, dynamic change of cultivated land and its driving factors have been analyzed in this paper. The result was listed as follows:During the period of1996-2010, the area of cultivated land in Chengdu city was decreased from497634.50ha to425859.01ha, with a net reduction of71775.49ha. The change trends of which demonstrated as stepped fluctuation reduce, manifesting as implode-placid-increase soft. There was a great regional difference on cultivated land in different counties, Chengdu city. The area of cultivated land increased outside the center of radiation in Chengdu. A relative less change of cultivated land occurred in the county where owned an underdevelopment economy and society. The county that stayed on medium development level has a higher rate of relative change of cultivated land, which highest of6.32in Jinniu zone, and lowest of0.0596in dayi zone. The rate of relative change of cultivated land in each county demonstrated that the land was used intensively in advanced county where economic development was not dependent on the occupation of mass land. The trend of multiple crop index, from1.85to2.20, appeared declining. During the period of which, the area of farmland decreased for the reason that it transferred into construction land. And the cultivated land, forestland and garden plot transferred into each in farmland system.Based on the SPSS software, comprehensive and quantitative analysis was made on the driving factors by the method of factor analysis and PCA(principal component analysis).
