The Research Of A Company VMI Implementation

VMI is a kind of cooperation strategy which makes inventory management continuous improvement. Its final purpose is to obtain the lowest cost for the customer and supplier both sides, their inventory is managed by supplier under a common agreement, continuously monitor protocol implementation and revise protocol content.The concept of VMI is just on the contrary of the traditional inventory management model. It breaks the traditional inventory management model of the act of one’s own free will, embodies the integration of supply chain management, adapts to changing the market requirement, is a new and representative of the inventory management theory. As a new kind of inventory management theory, VMI is playing the increasingly important role in the activities of supply chain management.This article is mostly focused on the study of A company VMI project based on the supply chain management theory and vendor management inventory theory. Firstly of all, I summarize supply chain management theory briefly, and then emphasize the introduction of vendor management inventory theory which mainly includes the definition, object, content and characteristic of VMI and the condition and mode of the implementation of VMI. Secondly, I have a full study of the implementation and application of VMI, is emphasis on the establishment of new operation process for A company VMI project, the share of sales forecast information for A company’s customer B company, the involvement of the third party logistics and the introduction of integrated information system, point out some problem during the implementation of VMI project. Eventually, discuss the performance appraisal and the following improvement of A company VMI project implementation, study the problem and raise the corresponding countermeasure through the analysis of the new operation process and the assessment of the purpose of VMI project.
