It has been well known that corporate culture can greatly influence the company’s performance and hence, competition between enterprises in the21st century is now focused on the establishment of a comprehensive and multifaceted corporate culture. Indeed, an accomplished and distinctive corporate culture is the basis behind the success of many enterprises. It is through which they are able to stand in prominence when confronted by the large challenges brought forth by the industry today.Wal-mart has long been reputed for their distinctive and intact corporate culture. Since its establishment in the1960s, Wal-mart has progressed from no more than a regional variety store to the most successful retailer in the world. Wal-mart’s business volume has grown remarkably throughout the decades and it has been in the top-spot as the most admired company for many consecutive years. Wal-mart has always been proud of their ability to manage growth without losing sight of the company’s values. In fact, it is these values that eventually developed into their corporate culture that serves as the very foundation of their success.This article is guided by the theory of corporate culture. With inspiration and references from Wal-mart’s corporate culture, opinions are being pointed for Chinese corporations with regards to psychological culture, institutional culture, behavioral culture, and material culture. These opinions can serve as a guideline for Chinese entrepreneurs in the management of human resource and to sustain the company’s core competitiveness in the market today.
