China is a country with extensive resources. For a long time, resource development anduse plays a vital role in the process of urban economic and social development. With thecontinuous development and utilization of resources, reserves dwindling, derived therefrom, alarge number of resource-exhausted cities.So far, the resource-exhausted cities rely on the development and utilization of resourcesencountered unprecedented development difficulties, such as a serious imbalance in industrialstructure, the driving force of economic development, has seriously hampered the sound andrapid development of the city and the national economy as a whole. Thus, the promotion ofurban transformation, re-development, it is the wise choice of the resource-exhausted cities, isthe only way out.Restructuring and development of resource-exhausted cities is a worldwide problem,China should be based on national conditions, drawing on international successful experience,explore a suitable Chinese characteristics, resource-exhausted cities to transition thedevelopment path. In this paper, carried out research around the following four aspects:The first part, of the restructuring and development of resource-exhausted citiesOverview;The second part, of the development status of China’s resource-exhausted cities, causesand facing difficulties;The third part, the developed countries resource exhausted cities development experienceand its Implications for China;The fourth part, promote the restructuring and development of measures and policies inresource-exhausted cities in China.
