Research On Development Strategies Of Investment Banking In Chinese Commercial Banks

With the world’s ever-changing financial environment, the steady progress of the comprehensive management of the financial industry as well as the deepening of Chinese financial reform, commercial banks are facing more and more challenges in recent years. Thus, positively developing the investment banking industry is an important way to improve the core competitiveness of commercial banks and create new profit growth point. At present, the development of investment banking of domestic commercial banks is still in its infancy, which has a certain gap with the developed Western countries. In the same time, the traditional sub-industry business model has severely constrained the development of China’s banking industry, leading to huge pressure in market competition of domestic commercial banks. Comprehensive management has become the basic trend of the development of commercial banks, and the development of the investment banking business makes a big step in financial industry towards integrated operation.On basis of referring to sufficient documents and fully understanding of the research dynamic at home and abroad, this paper discusses the strategies of carrying out investment banking business in Chinese commercial banks. The paper is divided into six parts:the first part clarifies the background and significance of research and elaborates theories and practices related to investment banking study; The second part briefly describe the theories of the investment banking business, such as investment banking definition, classification, patterns and business content; The third part analyzes current status of foreign commercial banks and the hidden inspiration; The fourth part discusses the necessity of developing investment banking from three aspects:the developing trend of the banking sector, the disinter mediation of Chinese banking sector and the need for reform of commercial banks; The fifth part takes the China Construction Bank as an example to analyze the status quo of investment banking business in Chinese commercial banks and identifies the existing problems in the developing process; The sixth part states the strategies needed to be taken to carry out investment banking in Chinese commercial banks; The last part points out the conclusion, shortage and outlook of this paper.
