With the continuous development of national economy and the rapid progress ofglobalization in China, Security industry, as a sunrise industry, maintain a goodmomentum in national economy during the period of11th Five-Year Plan. According tostatistics, in2010, the national security industry output value reached RMB230billionwith average annual growth rate over20%. Moreover, with the overall deployment of“3111Project” in2011, it has already attracted overall investment of nearly RMB100billion. Based on the update security industry news announced in12th Five-Year plan,the industrial scale of security in2015will be doubled with gross output value RMB500billion. The entire security market will be in the state of rapid growth.Security Technology of Ingersoll-Rand (China), as a leading company in securityindustry, is a one of few global groups with integrated security offerings includingmechanical hardware, electronic system, bio-technologies and system integration.However, its internal supply chain faces a big challenge with the consistently changingand variation of customer demands, the intensely competition in the security market, aswell as the new products explosion. How to quick response to the customer’s request toimprove the service level? How to keep its competitiveness in the ever-changing market?How to integrate its internal supply chain and optimize its business process to make itadapt to its long range development strategy? All of these questions are worth ponderingand researching.The thesis conducts the research on the current supply chain process of SecurityTechnology of Ingersoll Rand (China). First, it gives a general introduction about thebusiness, products, as well as the supply chain of Security Technology of Ingersoll Rand(China), pointing out the enormous challenges Ingersoll Rand (China) facing in today’svolatile market place. Second, Value Stream Map will be applied to make an analysis ofexisting supply chain management process to identify the problems in the businessprocess and explore the reasons behind the phenomenon. It shows the necessity tooptimize the current supply chain management process to improve its operationalperformance. After that, it explains what’s S&OP, how S&OP works, and the benefits from S&OP. Also it illustrates how S&OP can be used into Security Technology ofIngersoll Rand (China) to optimize and reengineer its current supply chain managementprocess and the recommendations will be put forward about the implementation. In theend, the whole thesis summarization which shows the prospects of S&OP deployment insupply chain management. It points out S&OP model can be used to ensure the demand,supply and resources are synchronized to achieve its competitive advantages.
