Led by the rapid and mature development of the domestic software industry. K Department has grown exponentially in business areas and employees in recent years. By contrast, it doesn’t have enough skilled and experienced employees to keep up with the department development.Along with the rapid department expansion, some new problems come out, i.e. technique and experience loss with leaving of the core employees, a lot of training cost wasted due to frequent joining and leaving of new hires, complaints caused by the frequent employee replacements of key positions, same mistakes made by different employees, etc. Therefore, the management mode should be improved thoroughly to resolve these problems, in order to keep a sustained development in the industrial competition.As knowledge management theory is getting mature, and successful cases increases these years, we decided to choose it to resolve the management problems of K Department mentioned above. This paper proposes a department-level knowledge management solution, by making use of the theories of knowledge management and its maturity models, combining the experiences from the knowledge management implementations of other companies, and referring to the background, culture and resources limitation of K Department.Firstly it points out the problems and confusions that K Departments faces. Secondly, it analyzes these problems according to the knowledge management theories, the questionnaire results performed in the department, and the current business processes. Then it puts forward the solution based on the knowledge management implementation procedures of "Cognition, Plan. Pilot. Promotion and Support, Systemization", and also take actions to guarantee the procedure to be carried out smoothly. At last it predicts the possible positive and negative effects post implementation as well.The thesis develops a highly-pertinent and operative knowledge management solution based on knowledge management theories,with the real business requirements of K Department. The solution could help K Department survive in the fierce market competition, and obtain the acknowledgement and the satisfaction of both its customers and employees.
