Bumper Inventory Improvement Research At YF Company

This thesis introduces the information technology applied for process optimization of purchasing logistic, manufacturing logistic and selling logistic in a bumper manufacture plant. After the improvement, the plant reduces logistic area and increases logistic efficiency. This example showed that modern information technology, such as Information Communication, Warehouse Management System and Advanced Planning and Scheduling, could help to improve inventory management in supply chain..In terms of supply logistics, it improved that the way to reduce inventory should include increase the number of turn-rounds and the frequency for suppliers to deliver the goods, let suppliers know the inventory status and requirements through long-range synchronous technology, deliver the goods by JIT according to the relevant rules, to low purchased material stock.In terms of production logistics, first of all, to use the theory of Warehouse Management System, Research&Develop visual electronic KANBAN system. These methods do not only guide logistics staff locate and take the materials precisely, but also could help to map out the producing plan which bases on comparing forecast statistics of plan with the inventory status returned promptly and the quantity of the inject products producing&consuming in certain period by using these methods.For dealing with the changes of production, using the mentioned methods above and instant inventory information from information collection system of the electronic KANBAN to coordinate plan conveniently.In terms of sales logistics, firstly postpone packaging, that is, inventory will be semi-finished goods instead of finished products, then package according to customers’ sort information, reduce the inventory caused by differentiation of allocation. Second, we try our best to reduce inventory in the whole system through monitoring spot inventory from customer’s information.
