Since the1990s, technology and information industry has made such rapid progress thate-commerce is doomed to become the general trend. It also promoted the development ofe-commerce business of commercial banks, which are the intermediary of the financial marketin China. However, the e-commerce of commercial banks is facing fierce competition in theincreasingly open market, such as product homogenization, threat from third-party paymentplatform and management decision lag. Compared with developed countries, there is a biggap both in the concept and techniques of e-commerce based on commercial banks. The keysolution raised by this article is how to take advantage from existing strengths to make up forthe inadequacy and perfection.This article takes the Pearl River Delta as the breakthrough point, starting from thecurrent situation and background of the e-commerce based on commercial banking, whileusing theories in marketing and commercial banking to forecast the future. We adopt SWOTmethod to analysis the advantages, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of e-banking in thecommercial banking business in a detailed way. We also analyze the basic model of existingcommercial bank e-commerce, along with the opportunities and challenges in the futuredevelopment. Combining with the geographical features of the Pearl River Delta, we elaboratethe opportunities of the commercial banks and the characteristics of business e-commerce inPearl River Delta from different angles. Finally, we provide strategy and recommendations onhow to improve the existing e-commerce model of commercial banks in the Pearl River Delta.
